سُوْرَةُ الْفُرْقَانِ
Surah Al-Furqaan (25) — Ayah 17
وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ وَمَا يَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَيَقُولُ ءَأَنتُمْ أَضْلَلْتُمْ عِبَادِى هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ أَمْ هُمْ ضَلُّوا۟ ٱلسَّبِيلَ ﴿17﴾

And on the Day when He will gather them together and that which they worship besides Allâh [idols, angels, pious men, saints]. He will say: "Was it you who misled these My slaves or did they (themselves) stray from the (Right) Path?"

(Ayah 17) ➊ { وَ يَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ وَ مَا يَعْبُدُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ …:} On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will gather together those who worshipped others besides Allah and all those whom they used to worship. Among them will be angels, prophets such as ‘Isa and ‘Uzair (peace be upon them), and many other righteous servants of Allah, as well as animals such as cows, snakes, and monkeys, etc., plants such as the pipal tree, and inanimate objects such as idols, etc. Allah will grant even senseless and lifeless things the ability to perceive and speak, and He will ask all of them: “Did you mislead these My servants, or did they themselves stray from the straight path?”
➋ Allah already has knowledge of everything; the purpose of this question will be, firstly, to leave those who worshipped others besides Allah speechless and humiliated, and secondly, to have these pure personalities themselves declare their disavowal of shirk.
➌ In {’’ وَ مَا يَعْبُدُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ ‘‘}, the word {’’ مَا ‘‘} is used, which is generally for non-intelligent things, even though they also worshipped prophets and saints. Perhaps this is to show their status in comparison to Allah, or because {’’ مَا ‘‘} is used for both intelligent and non-intelligent things, although it is mostly used for non-intelligent things.
