Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 57){ لَا تَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا مُعْجِزِيْنَ فِي الْاَرْضِ …:} The polytheists have generally always been greater in number and strength; even during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), the Muslims were weak and used to be afraid of them. In such circumstances, the promise of caliphate seemed strange and almost impossible to them. Therefore, it is said that never think regarding the disbelievers that they can overpower Allah; no matter how great their numbers and strength, no matter how many schemes and armies they gather, their contest is with Allah, and they can never overpower Allah in any way. Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) has a verse:
{هَمَّتْ سَخِيْنَةُ أَنْ تُغَالِبَ رَبَّهَا ¤ فَلَيُغْلَبَنَّ مُغَالِبُ الْغَلَّابِ}
"Sakhinah (Quraysh) intended to overpower their Lord, but whoever contends with this Mighty, Dominant One will always be defeated." [Mustadrak Hakim: 3/488, H: 6065; Hakim, Dhahabi, and Al-Albani declared it Sahih.] This will be their state in this world, and their final abode is Hell, and it is a very evil place to return to.
