سُوْرَةُ النُّوْرِ
Surah An-Noor (24) — Ayah 47
وَيَقُولُونَ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَبِٱلرَّسُولِ وَأَطَعْنَا ثُمَّ يَتَوَلَّىٰ فَرِيقٌ مِّنْهُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ ۚ وَمَآ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ﴿47﴾

They (hypocrites) say: "We have believed in Allâh and in the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), and we obey," then a party of them turn away thereafter, such are not believers.

(Ayah 47){ وَ يَقُوْلُوْنَ اٰمَنَّا بِاللّٰهِ وَ بِالرَّسُوْلِ وَ اَطَعْنَا:} This sentence is connected to {’’ وَ اللّٰهُ يَهْدِيْ مَنْ يَّشَآءُ اِلٰى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيْمٍ ‘‘}, as if Allah Almighty is now mentioning those people whom Allah did not will to guide. These are the people who outwardly profess Islam but conceal disbelief in their hearts; these are the hypocrites. The subject matter of this verse is similar to the verses (60 to 65) of Surah An-Nisa; take a look at their exegesis.
