Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 29) ➊ { وَقُلْرَّبِّاَنْزِلْنِيْمُنْزَلًامُّبٰرَكًا :} This is the second part of the supplication taught to Noah (peace be upon him). {’’ مُنْزَلًا ‘‘} is both a verbal noun (masdar mīmī) from the form “af‘āl” and also a noun of place, meaning “to bring down” and “the place of bringing down.” That is, O my Lord! Cause me to land, such a landing that is blessed, and in such a place that is full of blessings. By “blessed landing” is meant that there is no hardship while embarking, and wherever we land, no calamity befalls, and in every situation and every place, there is great mercy and blessing included. Allah Almighty taught this supplication to our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): «{ وَقُلْرَّبِّاَدْخِلْنِيْمُدْخَلَصِدْقٍوَّاَخْرِجْنِيْمُخْرَجَصِدْقٍوَّاجْعَلْلِّيْمِنْلَّدُنْكَسُلْطٰنًانَّصِيْرًا }»[ بني إسرائیل : ۸۰ ] “And say: O my Lord! Cause me to enter a truthful entrance and cause me to exit a truthful exit, and grant me from Yourself a supporting authority.” Both these supplications are taught by Allah Almighty Himself, and He has commanded to recite them by saying {’’ قُلْ ‘‘}. There is no doubt in their acceptance. These two supplications should be kept on the tongue regularly, especially when entering or leaving the house, and while making these supplications, one should also intend for our real destination, Paradise, along with an honorable and blessed destination in this world. May Allah Almighty, by His grace and mercy, grant us that honorable and blessed station. (Ameen)
➋ { وَاَنْتَخَيْرُالْمُنْزِلِيْنَ :} One meaning is as mentioned above in the translation, and another is what Joseph (peace be upon him) said to his brothers: «{ وَاَنَاخَيْرُالْمُنْزِلِيْنَ }»[ یوسف : ۵۹ ] “And I am the best of hosts.” That is, after disembarking from the ark, You alone are our host and the arranger of our needs, and there is no better host than You.
