Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 106) ➊ {قَالُوْارَبَّنَاغَلَبَتْعَلَيْنَاشِقْوَتُنَا: ’’شِقْوَةٌ‘‘} Misfortune. In {’’الصحيح المسبور‘‘}, Adam bin Abi Iyas has narrated with an authentic chain from Mujahid that the meaning of the verse: «غَلَبَتْعَلَيْنَاشِقْوَتُنَا » is: {’’اَلَّتِيْكَتَبْتَعَلَيْنَا‘‘} that is, our misfortune which You had written for us has overcome us. Tabari has also narrated this statement. It is clear that the wrongdoers, even while presenting their excuse, will put all the blame on Allah Almighty, just as Satan also blamed Allah Almighty for his misguidance. See Surah Al-A'raf (16). ➋ { وَكُنَّاقَوْمًاضَآلِّيْنَ:} Ibn Kathir said: "That is, the proof was established against us (and the message of guidance reached us), but we were far more unfortunate than to follow it and obey it, so we deviated from it and could not attain guidance."
