Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 49) ➊ { قُلْيٰۤاَيُّهَاالنَّاسُاِنَّمَاۤاَنَالَكُمْنَذِيْرٌمُّبِيْنٌ :} Before this, Allah addressed the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and said that these people demand you to hasten the punishment. Allah gave one answer by mentioning His law of respite; this verse is the second answer. He said, say to them that I am only a warner to you, my task is to warn and inform you of the evil end of disbelief. Bringing the punishment quickly or delaying it is not my task; it is the task of the One Who sent me. I am only the conveyor of the message, I am not Allah Himself. ➋ { يٰۤاَيُّهَاالنَّاسُ :} That is, convey the message to all the people of the world, whether they belong to any nation or country, or whether they are people of any era until the Day of Resurrection. See Surah Saba (28). ➌ { نَذِيْرٌمُّبِيْنٌ :} That is, I am a warner (and a bringer of glad tidings) to you, I clearly tell you everything that is harmful to you so that you may avoid it, and I tell you everything that is beneficial to you so that you may adopt it. Here, along with {’’نَذِيْرٌ ‘‘}, {’’ بَشِيْرٌ ‘‘} is also present but has been omitted in words, because the context is about warning of the punishment which they are demanding to be hastened. Here, {’’ بَشِيْرٌ ‘‘} is not mentioned separately because every warner is also a bringer of glad tidings, since the result of avoiding the things he warns about is glad tidings. Besides this, in the context of {’’ نَذِيْرٌ ‘‘}, the mention of {’’ بَشِيْرٌ ‘‘} is also evidenced by the fact that in the verses that follow, the first is glad tidings and the second is warning.
