And (remember) Lût (Lot), We gave him Hukm (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and (religious) knowledge, and We saved him from the town (folk) who practised Al-Khabâ’ith (evil, wicked and filthy deeds). Verily, they were a people given to evil, and were Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allâh).

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 75,74) {وَ لُوْطًا اٰتَيْنٰهُ حُكْمًا وَّ عِلْمًا …:} The mention of Lut (Lot) عليه السلام separately indicates that he was sent to a different region and people than the previous three prophets. The story of Lut عليه السلام has already appeared in Surah Al-A'raf (80), Hud (81), and Al-Hijr (61). The mention of the wicked deeds of his town is also found in previous surahs as well as in Surah Al-Ankabut (28 to 35) and Surah Al-Qamar (33 to 37), etc. The name of this town is famously Sodom.
