سُوْرَةُ الْاَنْۣبِيَآءِ
Surah Al-Anbiyaa (21) — Ayah 71
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَلُوطًا إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلَّتِى بَـٰرَكْنَا فِيهَا لِلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ﴿71﴾

And We rescued him and Lût (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the ‘Âlamîn (mankind and jinn).

(Ayah 71){ وَ نَجَّيْنٰهُ وَ لُوْطًا … :} Seeing this incident, Lut (peace be upon him) believed in Ibrahim (peace be upon him). See Surah Al-Ankabut (26). And just as Allah protected Ibrahim (peace be upon him) from being burned in the fire, in the same way, both Ibrahim and Lut (peace be upon them) were safely taken out from the clutches of those wrongdoers and granted ease to migrate towards Sham (Greater Syria). This too was a great favor, because leaving from there was not easy for them. The migration towards Sham shows that Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was a resident of Iraq.
