Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
The meaning of (Ayah 65){ ثُمَّنُكِسُوْاعَلٰىرُءُوْسِهِمْ …: ’’ نَكَسَ ‘‘} is to turn upside down on the head, that is, to make the head down and the feet up; this is the worst condition of any person. {’’ نُكِسَالْوَلَدُ ‘‘} is when the legs of a child come out before the head. {’’ نُكِسَفِيالْمَرَضِ ‘‘} is to become healthy and then fall ill again. That is, although as soon as they heard the answer of Ibrahim (peace be upon him), their hearts decided that you yourselves are the wrongdoers who have taken such insensitive and powerless idols as deities who cannot even speak to tell what has happened to them, yet instead of accepting the truth, they became obstinate and ignorant, due to which their intellect was turned upside down and they began to say such things without any shame that their foolishness and stupidity became completely evident. {’’ نُكِسُوْا ‘‘} were turned upside down, as if something had forcibly made them fall headlong, so they said: «{ لَقَدْعَلِمْتَمَاهٰۤؤُلَآءِيَنْطِقُوْنَ }» "Indeed, you surely know that these do not speak."
