Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 59) ➊ { قَالُوْامَنْفَعَلَهٰذَابِاٰلِهَتِنَاۤ :} What a powerful depiction of the idolaters’ lack of reason. They said, “Who has done this to our gods?” They did not even consider: what kind of gods are these who cannot even defend themselves? The irony is that all of them said that someone else has done this to their gods. The same is the case with grave-worshippers: Those who do not even know how to turn sides, You consider them to be the removers of difficulties.
➋ { اِنَّهٗلَمِنَالظّٰلِمِيْنَ : ’’ إِنَّ ‘‘} And with the emphasis of “inna” and “lam,” indeed he is certainly among the wrongdoers, because he has done this to the removers of difficulties instead of honoring them. Or, because even beating has a limit, but this wrongdoer has beaten them so much that nothing is left of them, nor has he spared any effort in humiliating them. (Razi)
