Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 108) {قُلْ اِنَّمَا يُوْحٰۤى اِلَيَّ اَنَّمَاۤ اِلٰهُكُمْ اِلٰهٌ وَّاحِدٌ …:} In this verse, the word of restriction {’’ اِنَّمَا ‘‘} has come twice. It is said, say: "It is only revealed to me that your deity is only One deity." Here, a question arises that many other revelations were sent to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), such as prophethood, the Resurrection, prayer, fasting, and other commands, so why was it said that only one revelation comes to me, and that is that your deity is only One? The answer is that the summary of the entire Shariah is that our task is only to worship one deity, that is, to be a slave of one Master. Whatever He commands, we must do; whatever He forbids, we must refrain from. Every need must be asked only from Him, because only He can fulfill it. This is the call of all the Prophets. It is said: «{ وَ مَاۤ اَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ مِنْ رَّسُوْلٍ اِلَّا نُوْحِيْۤ اِلَيْهِ اَنَّهٗ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنَا فَاعْبُدُوْنِ [ الأنبیاء : ۲۵ ] "And We did not send any messenger before you except that We revealed to him that there is no deity except Me, so worship Me." This is the very religion of Ibrahim. It is said: «{ اِذْ قَالَ لَهٗ رَبُّهٗۤ اَسْلِمْ قَالَ اَسْلَمْتُ لِرَبِّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ [ البقرۃ : ۱۳۱ ] "When his Lord said to him, 'Submit,' he said, 'I have submitted to the Lord of the worlds.'" All the commands of the Shariah are different forms of fulfilling the servitude of this Master, and all are details of {’’ اَنَّمَاۤ اِلٰهُكُمْ اِلٰهٌ وَّاحِدٌ ‘‘}. A poet has beautifully said:
When the tale of beauty spread, it was limitless,
And when it contracted, it remained as Your name.
That is why, when the command was given here to announce this reality that only this is revealed to me, that your deity is only One deity, and your task is to worship Him alone, that is, to love Him to the utmost degree and to become His servant and slave with the utmost humility for Him, and Islam, that is, to completely surrender yourself to Him and to abandon your own will and follow only His will. So, in the end, to command them to worship only Allah and to completely surrender themselves to Him, the method of interrogation was adopted: when only this is revealed to me, then, according to this, will you become Muslim for Him, that is, those who surrender to Him and become completely obedient? The purpose is that you must become so. Thus, our Prophet was commanded: «{ قُلْ اِنَّ صَلَاتِيْ وَ نُسُكِيْ وَ مَحْيَايَ وَ مَمَاتِيْ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ (162) لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهٗ وَ بِذٰلِكَ اُمِرْتُ وَ اَنَا اَوَّلُ الْمُسْلِمِيْنَ [ الأنعام : ۱۶۲، ۱۶۳ ] "Say: Indeed, my prayer, my sacrifice, my life, and my death are for Allah, the Lord of the worlds. He has no partner, and I have been commanded this, and I am the first of those who submit."
