Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 103) ➊ {لَايَحْزُنُهُمُالْفَزَعُالْاَكْبَرُ :} This is the fourth blessing: if there was any anxiety before, after being saved from the Fire and entering Paradise, they will be safe from every anxiety, even the greatest anxiety will not grieve them, so how could minor anxieties have any power to sadden them? ➋ {الْفَزَعُالْاَكْبَرُ:} Ibn Atiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “This blessing will be attained after entering Paradise.” Because it is established in authentic ahadith that, with the intercession of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), many believers will be taken out of Hell and admitted to Paradise, therefore, {’’الْفَزَعُالْاَكْبَرُ ‘‘ } seems to refer to the time mentioned by Abu Sa’id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [ يُوْتٰیبِالْمَوْتِكَهَيْئَةِكَبْشٍأَمْلَحَفَيُنَادِيْمُنَادٍيَاأَهْلَالْجَنَّةِ ! خُلُوْدٌفَلاَمَوْتَ،ثُمَّقَرَأَ: «{ وَاَنْذِرْهُمْيَوْمَالْحَسْرَةِاِذْقُضِيَالْاَمْرُوَهُمْفِيْغَفْلَةٍ }»وَهٰؤُلَاءِفيْغَفْلَةٍأَهْلُالدُّنْيَا،«{ وَهُمْلَايُؤْمِنُوْنَ } » ][ بخاري، التفسیر، باب قولہ عز و جل : « وأنذرھم یوم الحسرۃ » : ۴۷۳۰ ] “Death will be brought in the form of a black and white ram, then a caller will call out: ‘O people of Paradise!’ They will raise their necks and look, and he will say: ‘Do you recognize this?’ They will say: ‘Yes! This is death,’ and all of them will have seen it. Then he will call out: ‘O people of the Fire!’ They will raise their necks and look, and he will say: ‘Do you recognize this?’ They will say: ‘Yes! This is death,’ and all of them will have seen it. Then it will be slaughtered, then he will say: ‘O people of Paradise! (Now) eternity and no death, and O people of the Fire! (Now) eternity and no death.’” Then he recited this verse: «{ وَاَنْذِرْهُمْيَوْمَالْحَسْرَةِاِذْقُضِيَالْاَمْرُوَهُمْفِيْغَفْلَةٍ }»[ مریم : ۳۹ ] (And warn them of the Day of Regret when the matter will be decided, and they are in heedlessness) meaning they are in complete heedlessness of the world: «{ وَهُمْلَايُؤْمِنُوْنَ }» “And they do not believe.” Ibn Kathir mentioned the statement “Abd al-Razzaq from Yahya ibn Rabi’ah from Ata’”: “It is as if {’’ يَوْمَالْحَسْرَةِ ‘‘} and {’’ الْفَزَعُالْاَكْبَرُ ‘‘} are one and the same thing.” Most scholars have taken this to refer to the time of the final blowing of the Trumpet. Some have taken it to mean the terrifying events that will occur in the Plain of Gathering, but any grief or anxiety that comes to an end cannot be called {’’ الْفَزَعُالْاَكْبَرُ ‘‘}. In Ibn Kathir it is mentioned that Sa’id ibn Jubayr said: [ حِيْنَتُطْبَقُالنَّارُعَلٰیأَهْلِهَا ] “It refers to the time when Hell will be closed over its inhabitants.” Dr. Hikmat ibn Bashir said: “Al-Tabari mentioned this with a good chain.” This statement and the statement about the slaughtering of death are one and the same, because Hell will only be closed over its inhabitants when only those remain who are to abide therein forever. In summary, after entering Paradise, the people of Paradise will be safe from every kind of anxiety and fear, even the greatest anxiety will not grieve them, rather it will be reserved exclusively for the people of Hell. ➌ {وَتَتَلَقّٰىهُمُالْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةُ …:} This reception will take place at the time of entering Paradise, as Allah Almighty said: «{ وَسِيْقَالَّذِيْنَاتَّقَوْارَبَّهُمْاِلَىالْجَنَّةِزُمَرًاحَتّٰۤىاِذَاجَآءُوْهَاوَفُتِحَتْاَبْوَابُهَاوَقَالَلَهُمْخَزَنَتُهَاسَلٰمٌعَلَيْكُمْطِبْتُمْفَادْخُلُوْهَاخٰلِدِيْنَ}»[ الزمر : ۷۳ ] “And those who feared their Lord will be driven to Paradise in groups, until when they reach it, and its gates are opened, and its keepers say to them: ‘Peace be upon you, you have done well, so enter it to abide eternally.’” Before this, at the time of death, the angels will also receive them and give them glad tidings, as He said: «{ اِنَّالَّذِيْنَقَالُوْارَبُّنَااللّٰهُثُمَّاسْتَقَامُوْاتَتَنَزَّلُعَلَيْهِمُالْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةُاَلَّاتَخَافُوْاوَلَاتَحْزَنُوْاوَاَبْشِرُوْابِالْجَنَّةِالَّتِيْكُنْتُمْتُوْعَدُوْنَ (30) نَحْنُاَوْلِيٰٓؤُكُمْفِيالْحَيٰوةِالدُّنْيَاوَفِيالْاٰخِرَةِوَلَكُمْفِيْهَامَاتَشْتَهِيْۤاَنْفُسُكُمْوَلَكُمْفِيْهَامَاتَدَّعُوْنَ (31) نُزُلًامِّنْغَفُوْرٍرَّحِيْمٍ }»[ حٰمٓ السجدۃ : ۳۰ تا ۳۲ ] “Indeed, those who have said, ‘Our Lord is Allah,’ and then remained steadfast, the angels descend upon them, [saying], ‘Do not fear and do not grieve but receive good tidings of Paradise, which you were promised. We are your allies in worldly life and in the Hereafter. And you will have therein whatever your souls desire, and you will have therein whatever you request. As accommodation from the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.’” And He said: «{ الَّذِيْنَتَتَوَفّٰىهُمُالْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةُطَيِّبِيْنَيَقُوْلُوْنَسَلٰمٌعَلَيْكُمُادْخُلُواالْجَنَّةَبِمَاكُنْتُمْتَعْمَلُوْنَ }»[النحل : ۳۲ ] “Those whom the angels take in a state of purity, saying, ‘Peace be upon you, enter Paradise for what you used to do.’”
