Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 10){لَقَدْاَنْزَلْنَاۤاِلَيْكُمْكِتٰبًا … :} In this verse, there is a comprehensive answer to all those disturbing statements of the disbelievers which they used to say about the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the Quran, that these are confused dreams, or fabricated statements, or magic, or poetry. So it is said that the Quran has nothing to do with any of these things; rather, We have sent down to you a Book in which there is your own mention, your own conditions and matters of life are discussed, and guidance regarding them has been given to you. What aspect of dream, magic, or poetry is there in this? So do you not understand? One meaning of {’’ فِيْهِذِكْرُكُمْ ‘‘} is that in the case of believing, this Book is a cause of your fame, reputation, and honor throughout the world, as elsewhere Allah addressed the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and said: «{ وَاِنَّهٗلَذِكْرٌلَّكَوَلِقَوْمِكَ }»[ الزخرف : ۴۴ ] That is, indeed this Quran is a cause of honor for you and your people. Another meaning of "dhikr" is admonition, as He said: «{ وَذَكِّرْفَاِنَّالذِّكْرٰىتَنْفَعُالْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ }»[ الذاریات : ۵۵ ] "And admonish, for indeed admonition benefits the believers." So the translation of the verse will be: "Indeed, We have sent down to you a Book in which there is provision for your admonition." All three meanings of "dhikr" can be intended in the verse at the same time, because there is no mutual contradiction among them.
