Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 82){ وَ اِنِّيْ لَغَفَّارٌ لِّمَنْ تَابَ … :} After the warning of disobedience and rebellion, encouragement to repent is given. It is understood that four things are conditions for forgiveness: first, repentance, that is, refraining from disbelief, polytheism, and disobedience; second, faith, that is, having sincere belief in Allah Almighty, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), the Day of Judgment, and other articles of faith; third, righteous deeds, that is, performing good deeds according to the guidance of Allah Almighty and His Messenger (peace be upon him); and fourth, remaining steadfast on the straight path until the end of life. This is what is meant by {’’ اهْتَدٰى ‘‘}, and this is the most difficult thing. Therefore, Allah Almighty mentioned it after the word {’’ ثُمَّ ‘‘} (then), as is in «{ ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَ تَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ وَ تَوَاصَوْا بِالْمَرْحَمَةِ [ البلد : ۱۷ ]. Thus, this verse is similar in meaning to the verses (30 to 32) of Surah Ha Meem As-Sajdah.
