Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 4){’’ تَنْزِيْلًا ‘‘} is in the accusative case due to an omitted verb which is understood from {’’ مَاۤ اَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ‘‘}, that is, {’’نُزِّلَ هٰذَا الْقُرْآنُ تَنْزِيْلاً۔‘‘}. The meaning of "tanzeel" is to send down little by little; for its wisdom, see Surah Al-Furqan, Ayah (32). {’’ الْعُلٰى ‘‘ ’’عُلْيَا‘‘} is the plural of { ’’أَعْلٰي‘‘}, which is the feminine of {’’كُبْرٰي‘‘ }, just as the plural of {’’كُبَرٌ‘‘} is __QUR_7__. That is, this Quran is not the word of any magician, soothsayer, poet, devil, jinn, human, angel, or any creature, but it is revealed by that Creator who is not only your Creator but also the Creator of this magnificent earth, upon which you live, and those extremely high and lofty heavens under which you reside; He is the Creator of all. See Surah An-Nazi'at (27 to 33). From this, understand the greatness of this Quran: can it ever be a cause of misery for its bringer or its followers in any way? Never! Rather, it is pure felicity for them. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [ إِنَّ الدِّيْنَ يُسْرٌ وَلَنْ يُّشَادَّ الدِّيْنَ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا غَلَبَهٗ فَسَدِّدُوْا وَقَارِبُوْا وَأَبْشِرُوْا وَاسْتَعِيْنُوْا بِالْغَدْوَةِ وَالرَّوْحَةِ وَشَيْءٍ مِنَ الدُّلْجَةِ ] "Indeed, this religion is easy, and no one makes the religion hard upon himself except that it will overpower him. So go straight, come close, and rejoice (in the reward from Allah), and seek help (in worship) in the morning, evening, and some parts of the night." [ بخاري، الإیمان، باب الدین یسر : ۳۹، عن أبي ھریرۃ رضی اللہ عنہ ]
