Surah Taa-Haa (20) — Ayah 25

قَالَ رَبِّ ٱشْرَحْ لِى صَدْرِى ﴿25﴾
[Mûsâ (Moses)] said: "O my Lord! Open for me my chest (grant me self-confidence, contentment, and boldness).
قَالَ qāla He said
رَبِّ rabbi My Lord
ٱشْرَحْ ish'raḥ Expand
لِى for me
صَدْرِى ṣadrī my breast

(Ayah 26,25){ قَالَ رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِيْ صَدْرِيْ … :} In another place it is said: «{ وَ يَضِيْقُ صَدْرِيْ وَ لَا يَنْطَلِقُ لِسَانِيْ [ الشعراء : ۱۳ ] "And my breast becomes tight and my tongue does not move." That is, remove the constriction I feel in my heart from taking on such a great responsibility, and grant me the courage, perseverance, and fortitude needed to bear this great position, and make the task of conveying the message easy for me.
