On that day no intercession shall avail, except the one for whom the Most Gracious (Allâh) has given permission and whose word is acceptable to Him.

(Ayah 109) ➊ {يَوْمَىِٕذٍلَّاتَنْفَعُالشَّفَاعَةُ … :} In this verse, the further awe and greatness of that Day is described, that the claim of the polytheists that their deities will intercede and save them is absolutely wrong. There, no intercession will be of any benefit.
➋ { اِلَّامَنْاَذِنَلَهُالرَّحْمٰنُ … :} This has two meanings; both are intended and both are supported by the verses of the Quran. This is the miracle of the Quran, that in extremely concise words, there are many meanings. One meaning is that on that Day, intercession will not benefit except that of the one whom the Most Merciful allows to intercede and whose speech He is pleased with. The second is that on that Day, intercession will not benefit except that of the one for whom the Most Merciful allows intercession and for whom He is pleased with the speech.
