Surah Taa-Haa (20) — Ayah 102

يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ ۚ وَنَحْشُرُ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ يَوْمَئِذٍ زُرْقًا ﴿102﴾
The Day when the Trumpet will be blown (the second blowing): that Day, We shall gather the Mujrimûn (criminals, polytheists, sinners, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh) blue or blind-eyed with thirst.
يَوْمَ yawma (The) Day
يُنفَخُ yunfakhu will be blown
فِى in
ٱلصُّورِ ۚ l-ṣūri the Trumpet
وَنَحْشُرُ wanaḥshuru and We will gather
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ l-muj'rimīna the criminals
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ yawma-idhin that Day
زُرْقًۭا zur'qan blue-eyed

(Ayah 102) {يَوْمَ يُنْفَخُ فِي الصُّوْرِ … :} This is a substitute for {’’ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ ‘‘} mentioned in the previous verses, which is describing the Day of Resurrection. For the explanation of {’’ الصُّوْرِ ‘‘}, see Surah Al-An'am (73) and Al-Kahf (99). {’’ زُرْقًا‘‘ ’’أَزْرَقُ‘‘} is the plural, which means "one with blue color." Here, two meanings can be intended: one, those with blue bodies and blue faces, meaning those with black color, because burnt skin becomes bluish-black. For a similar verse, see Surah Aal-e-Imran (106). The second meaning is "blind," because very blue eyes are of a blind person, meaning they will be raised blind on the Day of Resurrection.
