And their Prophet (Samuel عليه السلام) said to them: Verily! The sign of His kingdom is that there shall come to you At-Tâbût (a wooden box), wherein is Sakînah (peace and reassurance) from your Lord and a remnant of that which Mûsâ (Moses) and Hârûn (Aaron) left behind, carried by the angels. Verily, in this is a sign for you if you are indeed believers.

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 248) {اَنْ يَّاْتِيَكُمُ التَّابُوْتُ …:} To encourage the Children of Israel and to increase their certainty in the kingship of Talut, the Prophet stated a sign of Talut being appointed as king: that the Ark (which the enemy had snatched from you), in whose presence you used to feel tranquility and reassurance (at the time of facing the enemy), and in which were some remnants of the family of Musa and the family of Harun, that Ark will come to you, which the angels will bring. Thus, with the arrival of this Ark (chest), the morale of the Children of Israel was raised and they became ready to fight.
