Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 245) {مَنْ ذَا الَّذِيْ يُقْرِضُ اللّٰهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا:} In the previous verse, there was the command to fight in the way of Allah; now there is encouragement to spend wealth in jihad. By "a goodly loan" is meant to spend wealth purely for the pleasure of Allah Almighty and to attain reward, without any intention of showing off, causing harm to anyone, or holding a favor over them. See the grace of Allah that He Himself gives everything and then asks from His servants, and considers it a loan upon Himself. In Surah At-Tawbah, both wealth and life are mentioned, as He said: «اِنَّ اللّٰهَ اشْتَرٰى مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ اَنْفُسَهُمْ وَ اَمْوَالَهُمْ بِاَنَّ لَهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ» [ التوبۃ : ۱۱۱ ] "Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties in exchange for Paradise for them." In Surah Al-Baqarah (261), it is also mentioned that Allah Almighty will return this goodly loan multiplied many times over.
