سُوْرَةُ البَقَرَةِ
Surah Al-Baqara (2) — Ayah 24
فَإِن لَّمْ تَفْعَلُوا۟ وَلَن تَفْعَلُوا۟ فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلْحِجَارَةُ ۖ أُعِدَّتْ لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ ﴿24﴾

But if you do it not, and you can never do it, then fear the Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers.

(Ayah 24) ➊ Ordinary fire is extinguished or becomes dim by human bodies and stones, but the heat of the fire of Hell is such that humans and stones will become its fuel and make it blaze even more. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your fire is one part out of seventy parts of the fire of Hell." [ بخاری، بدء الخلق، باب صفۃ النار و أنہا مخلوقۃ : ۳۲۴۹، عن أبی ہریرۃ رضی اللہ عنہ ] Abdullah ibn Mas'ud and Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said: "These stones will be of sulfur." (Tabari) The idols that the disbelievers used to worship are also meant. See Surah Al-Anbiya (98).
➋ { اُعِدَّتْ لِلْكٰفِرِيْنَ:} From this it is understood that Hell was originally created for the disbelievers; if any believer enters it, it will only be because of committing an act of disbelief, although he will not remain in it forever. It is also understood that Hell exists even now; this is the belief of all the Salaf, and its denial is the denial of clear verses and hadiths.
