And from wheresoever you start forth (for prayers), turn your face in the direction of Al-Masjid-Al-Harâm (at Makkah), that is indeed the truth from your Lord. And Allâh is not unaware of what you do.

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 149) That is, facing the qiblah in obligatory prayer is such a command that it is necessary to observe even during travel. No one should think that due to the hardship of travel there will be any relaxation here; rather, Allah Almighty’s statement: «وَ اِنَّهٗ لَلْحَقُّ مِنْ رَّبِّكَ» is for the emphasis of this command, and «وَ مَا اللّٰهُ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُوْنَ» is to warn against its opposition, so that no one neglects it by considering it insignificant.
