So if they believe in the like of that which you believe, then they are rightly guided; but if they turn away, then they are only in opposition. So Allâh will suffice you against them. And He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 137) ➊ {شِقَاقٍ:} This is a verbal noun from the root "shiqq" of the form "Mufa‘alah," meaning that some are on one side and some on the other side, coming face to face in opposition.
➋ That is, if these people believe in what you have believed in, which was mentioned in the previous verse, then indeed they will be rightly guided. And if they turn away, then they do so merely out of opposition and stubbornness.
➌ According to this promise, indeed Allah became sufficient for you against them: Banu Nadir and Banu Qaynuqa‘ were expelled from Madinah, Banu Qurayzah were killed, and eventually all the Jews and Christians were exiled from the entire Arabian Peninsula.
