Those (who embraced Islâm from Banî Israel) to whom We gave the Book [the Taurât (Torah)] [or those (Muhammad’s صلى الله عليه وسلم companions) to whom We have given the Book (the Qur’ân)] recite it (i.e. obey its orders and follow its teachings) as it should be recited (i.e. followed), they are the ones who believe therein. And whoso disbelieve in it (the Qur’ân), those are they who are the losers. (Tafsir Al-Qurtubî).

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Verse 121) After mentioning the evil deeds of the People of the Book, now those among them who are righteous and fear Allah are mentioned, that they recite the Book as it ought to be recited. As a result, they believe in the Qur’an. See its similar verses in Surah Al-Qasas (52 to 54). By this is meant Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) and his companions. It is understood that the right of recitation is that it should not be altered, and its commands should be acted upon. This is also the right of reciting the Qur’an. Some people take the right to mean only pronouncing the letters from their proper articulation points, but this is not sufficient.
