سُوْرَةُ مَرْيَمَ
Surah Maryam (19) — Ayah 45
يَـٰٓأَبَتِ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يَمَسَّكَ عَذَابٌ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ فَتَكُونَ لِلشَّيْطَـٰنِ وَلِيًّا ﴿45﴾

"O my father! Verily I fear lest a torment from the Most Gracious (Allâh) should overtake you, so that you become a companion of Shaitân (Satan) (in the Hell-fire)." [Tafsir Al-Qurtubî]

(Ayah 45){ يٰۤاَبَتِ اِنِّيْۤ اَخَافُ … :} The fourth point is that he warned him of the evil consequences of idolatry, its burden, and punishment, and even in this, he maintained excellent manners. He did not say plainly that punishment would befall you, but rather said, "I fear that some punishment from Allah the Exalted may afflict you, and then you would become a companion of Satan." Here, the words "I fear" and "some punishment may afflict" are noteworthy, showing how he expressed such a severe matter with such gentleness. Then, the point that the result of punishment would be to become a friend and companion of Satan. It is understood that becoming a companion of Satan is even worse than punishment. This final advice also begins with the loving words of {’’ يٰۤاَبَتِ ‘‘}. (Zamakhshari)
