Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 22){فَحَمَلَتْهُ فَانْتَبَذَتْ بِهٖ مَكَانًا قَصِيًّا: ’’ قَصِيًّا ‘‘ ’’قَصِيَ يَقْصَي قُصُوًّا‘‘ ’’رَضِيَ يَرْضَي‘‘} is like the defective waw from {’’عَلِمَ يَعْلَمُ‘‘}. {’’ قَصِيًّا أَيْ بَعِيْدًا ‘‘} means far. {’’ فَحَمَلَتْهُ ‘‘} After Jibreel (peace be upon him) said this and blew the spirit into her, she became pregnant. For the manner of blowing the spirit, see Surah Al-Anbiya (91) and Surah At-Tahrim (12). After becoming pregnant, in accordance with natural requirements, during the completion of the pregnancy term, to avoid the taunts and reproaches of the people, she moved to a place far from Bayt al-Maqdis. Ibn Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him) has mentioned the statement of Wahb that she moved to Bayt al-Lahm, which was eight miles away from Bayt al-Maqdis, and it was there that Isa (peace be upon him) was born. Ibn Kathir said that the Christians do not doubt this. However, Wahb's statement is derived only from Israiliyat, and neither can its authenticity be certain nor the statement of the Christians. However, most scholars say this. After how long of pregnancy was Isa (peace be upon him) born? Some commentators have said that as soon as she became pregnant, immediately after that the birth took place. Although for Allah Almighty this is not difficult, but this matter has not come from any reliable source, and regarding any incident, if someone states something heard centuries later without divine revelation, then no matter how great he is, that statement cannot bring the coolness of certainty. Therefore, the apparent is that the normal duration of pregnancy was completed, and this is also the statement of the majority of commentators.
