Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 91,90) ➊ {وَقَالُوْالَنْنُّؤْمِنَلَكَحَتّٰىتَفْجُرَلَنَا … : ’’ يَنْۢبُوْعًا ‘‘ ’’نَبَعَيَنْبِعُ‘‘} (ض،ن، ع) to gush forth, on the pattern of {’’يَفْعُوْلٌ‘‘}, the ya is added for emphasis, meaning a spring that flows continuously. In {’’ الْاَرْضِ ‘‘}, the alif-lam is for specification, that is, from this rocky land of Makkah where there is no sign of water. The purpose of the demand in {’’ يَنْۢبُوْعًا ‘‘} is that not only should there be enough water to fulfill their needs, but a very large and ever-flowing spring should gush forth.
➋ When the disbelievers could not respond to the miracle of the Qur'an, they made further demands for miracles as a condition for their belief, just as people who are left speechless do. In response to all these demands, what Allah commanded to be said is mentioned ahead.
