Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
On (Ayah 106){وَقُرْاٰنًافَرَقْنٰهُلِتَقْرَاَهٗ …: ’’ قُرْاٰنًا ‘‘}, the tanween is for exaltation, and it is the object of a deleted verb in {’’ اٰتَيْنَا ‘‘ }. That is, We have given you this magnificent Qur’an; We have revealed it in parts, meaning its surahs and verses were kept separate and revealed little by little over approximately twenty-three years. There are many wisdoms in this, for example, that it would be easier to recite, memorize, understand, and act upon; its meanings would become ingrained according to the context and occasion, so that there would be no possibility of using any verse out of context in the future. Whenever there was any distress or anxiety due to the behavior of the disbelievers, your heart would be strengthened with its verses, and if any issue arose for the Muslims or any objection came from the disbelievers, its answer could be given on the spot.
