Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah128) ➊ {اِنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَ الَّذِيْنَ اتَّقَوْا …:} means the one whose heart is constricted is he who has no companion or helper. Allah is the companion and helper of every righteous and good-doer, and by Allah’s grace, you are the leader of all the righteous and good-doers. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: [ أَنَا سَيِّدُ وَلَدِ آدَمَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَلَا فَخْرَ ] [ ترمذی، تفسیر القرآن، باب ومن سورۃ بني إسرائیل : ۳۱۴۸، و صححہ الألباني ] “I will be the leader of all the children of Adam on the Day of Resurrection, and there is no pride in this.” Then why should your heart be constricted? For details of Ihsan, see Surah An-Nahl, Ayah (90); the rank of Ihsan is higher than that of Taqwa.

➋ There are two types of companionship (Ma‘iyyat): one is general companionship, which is for every person, rather for every creature, and without it nothing can exist. He said: «{ وَ هُوَ مَعَكُمْ اَيْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ [ الحدید : ۴ ] “And He is with you wherever you are.” The other is special companionship, as the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him): «{ لَا تَحْزَنْ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَنَا [ التوبۃ : ۴۰ ] “Do not grieve; indeed, Allah is with us.” And as Musa (peace be upon him) said: «{ كَلَّا اِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّيْ سَيَهْدِيْنِ [ الشعراء : ۶۲ ] “Never! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me.” This is special companionship, meaning He is our helper. In this verse, special companionship is meant.
