Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah6) ➊ { وَقَالُوْايٰۤاَيُّهَاالَّذِيْنُزِّلَعَلَيْهِالذِّكْرُ:} They are saying this as mockery, not because they believe it. By {’’ الذِّكْرُ ‘‘} is meant everything that was revealed to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), which includes the Noble Qur’an as well as Hadith.
➋ { اِنَّكَلَمَجْنُوْنٌ :} In the previous verses, the disbelievers were rebuked for denying the Book of Allah; now their rebellion is mentioned, as well as their mockery of the Messenger and their denial of him. Those people, as a joke, used to call the Prophet (peace be upon him) insane and mad, even though he was the wisest of all. This was the worst form of their disbelief and mockery, and they had made this so well-known that in Sahih Muslim, the story of Dhamad Azdi is mentioned: he was a member of the Azd tribe, came to Makkah, and heard from the fools of Makkah that the Prophet was insane. He came to the Prophet and offered to treat him; the Prophet recited the prescribed sermon, and he requested that the Prophet recite it again. The Prophet recited this sermon three times, he praised it greatly, and accepted Islam on that very occasion. [ مسلم، الجمعۃ،باب تخفیف الصلاۃ و الخطبۃ : ۸۶۸ ] Glory be to Allah! The one who came to treat was himself treated.
