Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah45) ➊ {’’ الْمُتَّقِيْنَ ‘‘ ’’اِتَّقٰي‘‘} is the plural of {’’مُتَّقِيْ‘‘}, which is an active participle from the form "ifti‘āl." The root is {’’وَقٰييَقِیْوَقَايَةً‘‘}, meaning to save and to protect from harmful things. For details, see Surah Al-Baqarah (2). ➋ Along with the evil end of the misguided people, the excellent end of the God-fearing people is mentioned, and this is the general style of the Noble Qur’an that it mentions both aspects together. {’’ جَنّٰتٍ ‘‘ ’’جَنَّةٌ‘‘} is the plural, meaning a garden of dense trees that covers the ground. The meaning of {’’جَنَّيَجُنُّ‘‘} is to cover. The meaning of {’’ عُيُوْنٍ ‘‘ } is springs, referring to those springs from which the rivers of Paradise flow, or separate springs, because the beauty of springs is something unique. See the details of the springs mixed with camphor and ginger in Surah Ad-Dahr, the spring named Salsabeel, and the spring named Tasneem in Surah Al-Mutaffifin. Remember that Paradise does not only mean a garden, but also houses made of bricks of gold and silver, and gardens joined with tents miles long and high, made from a single pearl or ruby, as mentioned in the authentic ahadith regarding the descriptions of Paradise.
