سُوْرَةُ الْحِجْرِ
Surah Al-Hijr (15) — Ayah 44
لَهَا سَبْعَةُ أَبْوَٰبٍ لِّكُلِّ بَابٍ مِّنْهُمْ جُزْءٌ مَّقْسُومٌ ﴿44﴾

"It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned.

(Ayah44) ➊ { لَهَا سَبْعَةُ اَبْوَابٍ:} These seven gates will be for different kinds of sinners, which will lead the inhabitants of Hell to different levels of Hell. In the Noble Qur’an, the levels of Hell are called “Darakat,” as He said: «{ اِنَّ الْمُنٰفِقِيْنَ فِي الدَّرْكِ الْاَسْفَلِ مِنَ النَّارِ }» [ النساء : ۱۴۵ ] “Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest level of the Fire.” In an authentic hadith regarding Abu Talib, it is mentioned that the fire will reach up to his ankles. Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: [ إِنَّ مِنْهُمْ مَنْ تَأْخُذُهُ النَّارُ إِلٰی كَعْبَيْهِ، وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ تَأْخُذُهُ إِلٰی حُجْزَتِهِ، وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ تَأْخُذُهُ إِلٰی عُنُقِهِ ] [ مسلم، الجنۃ وصفۃ نعیمھا، باب جہنم أعاذنا اللہ منھا : ۲۸۴۵ ] “Some of them will be seized by the fire up to their ankles, and some of them will be seized up to their waists, and some of them will be seized up to their necks.”
➋ {لِكُلِّ بَابٍ مِّنْهُمْ جُزْءٌ مَّقْسُوْمٌ :} By the divided portion is meant a portion of the criminals divided into seven groups of evildoers, that is, just as people of a particular deed will enter Paradise through a particular gate, likewise, those of evil deeds will also enter Hell through its various gates according to their deeds, as mentioned above: «{ اِنَّ الْمُنٰفِقِيْنَ فِي الدَّرْكِ الْاَسْفَلِ مِنَ النَّارِ }» [ النساء : ۱۴۵ ] “Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest level of the Fire.” Shah Abdul Qadir (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “Perhaps there is one more gate of Paradise because some monotheists will enter Paradise solely by Allah’s grace, without any deeds.” (Muwadhih)
