Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 1){الٓرٰتِلْكَاٰيٰتُالْكِتٰبِوَقُرْاٰنٍمُّبِيْنٍ:’’ الْكِتٰبِ ‘‘} Because of the presence of "Alif Lam," it has been translated as "the complete Book." {’’ الْكِتٰبِ ‘‘} and {’’ قُرْاٰنٍ ‘‘} are both verbal nouns used for emphasis (meaning to write and to read), which are in the sense of the passive participle, that is, these are the verses of that speech which has been written countless times and read innumerable times. It is said: «{ اِنَّهٗلَقُرْاٰنٌكَرِيْمٌ (77) فِيْكِتٰبٍمَّكْنُوْنٍ }»[ الواقعۃ : ۷۷، ۷۸ ] "Indeed, it is surely a highly honored recited thing, which is in a book that is well-guarded." There is no count of those who write it or those who read it, from its being written in the Preserved Tablet, and from Gabriel (peace be upon him) and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) until the Day of Judgment. Then the excellence is that this is a complete Book (because of the presence of Alif Lam), and as a Qur'an, it is one that explains everything in detail. Until the Day of Judgment, no one can bring even a single surah like it.
