Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah49) ➊ {وَ تَرَى الْمُجْرِمِيْنَ يَوْمَىِٕذٍ مُّقَرَّنِيْنَ : ’’قَرَنٌ‘‘ } With the fatha on qaf and ra, it is the rope in which two oxen or two men are tied together. {’’ مُقَرَّنِيْنَ ‘‘ } Several people who are tied together among themselves. In Surah Sad (38) it is said: «{وَ اٰخَرِيْنَ مُقَرَّنِيْنَ فِي الْاَصْفَادِ That is, several jinn were made subservient to Sulaiman (peace be upon him) who were chained together. In Lisan al-Arab it is stated that {’’ مُقَرَّنِيْنَ ‘‘} is either in the meaning of { ’’مَقْرُوْنِيْنَ‘‘ }, or in the form of tafeel for abundance, meaning that many criminals will be severely chained together.
{فِي الْاَصْفَادِ: ’’ الْاَصْفَادِ ‘‘ ’’صَفَدٌ‘‘} (with the fatha on fa) is the singular of "Al-Asfad" and refers to that chain which is put on the feet, or that collar with which the hands and feet are tied towards the neck. [ الوسیط للطنطاوی ] That is, O addressee! On that day you will see many criminals bound together in chains. Every kind of criminal will be chained with those like him. See Surah Furqan (13) and Surah Haqqah (30 to 33), and every sinner will be with those like him. See Surah Saffat (22, 23) and Maryam (68).
