Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah13) ➊ {وَ قَالَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا لِرُسُلِهِمْ لَنُخْرِجَنَّكُمْ مِّنْ اَرْضِنَاۤ: } The disbelievers, seeing their own numbers and the small number of the believers, threatened their messengers that there are only two options for you: either we will expel you from our land, or you will leave Islam and come back, just as the disbelievers of India at this time are threatening the Muslims with killing, apostasy, or expulsion.

{ اَوْ لَتَعُوْدُنَّ فِيْ مِلَّتِنَا :} "Or you will return to our religion"—this statement of the disbelievers was according to their own assumption; otherwise, it does not mean that the prophets, peace be upon them, used to follow the misguided religion of their people before being honored with prophethood. Rather, the matter was that before prophethood, the prophets, peace be upon them, remained silent regarding their idols, upon which the people themselves assumed that they were upon their religion, or the meaning of this {’’ لَتَعُوْدُنَّ ‘‘} is {’’ لَتَصِيْرُنَّ ‘‘}, that is, you will come into our religion. (See Al-A'raf: 88) Or the address is to those who left disbelief and believed in the prophets. (Razi)
