سُوْرَةُ الرَّعْدِ
Surah Ar-Ra'd (13) — Ayah 12
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُرِيكُمُ ٱلْبَرْقَ خَوْفًا وَطَمَعًا وَيُنشِئُ ٱلسَّحَابَ ٱلثِّقَالَ ﴿12﴾

It is He Who shows you the lightning, as a fear (for travellers) and as a hope (for those who wait for rain). And it is He Who brings up (or originates) the clouds, heavy (with water).

(Ayah12){هُوَ الَّذِيْ يُرِيْكُمُ الْبَرْقَ …:} In this verse, Allah Almighty has mentioned such signs of His power that simultaneously carry both hope and fear, which can become a prelude to mercy as well as a cause of hardship. For example, when lightning flashes, there is hope that rain will come, but there is also fear that it might cause destruction. Seeing clouds raises hope for the rain of mercy, but at the same time, the worry remains that a flood might occur. Therefore, a person should remain hopeful of Allah’s mercy and also be fearful of His punishment.
