Surah Yusuf (12) — Ayah 97

قَالُوا۟ يَـٰٓأَبَانَا ٱسْتَغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا خَـٰطِـِٔينَ ﴿97﴾
They said: "O our father! Ask Forgiveness (from Allâh) for our sins, indeed we have been sinners."
قَالُوا۟ qālū They said
يَـٰٓأَبَانَا yāabānā O our father
ٱسْتَغْفِرْ is'taghfir Ask forgiveness
لَنَا lanā for us
ذُنُوبَنَآ dhunūbanā (of) our sins
إِنَّا innā Indeed, we
كُنَّا kunnā have been
خَـٰطِـِٔينَ khāṭiīna sinners

(Ayah97) {قَالُوْا يٰۤاَبَانَا اسْتَغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوْبَنَاۤ …:} There were sons as well as grandsons who said this, and they clearly admitted to being guilty knowingly and deliberately, and requested that you pray to Allah Almighty for our forgiveness, because even if you forgive us, if He does not forgive, then where will we find refuge?
