Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah92) ➊ The meanings of {قَالَلَاتَثْرِيْبَعَلَيْكُمُالْيَوْمَ:’’ تَثْرِيْبَ ‘‘} include blame, scolding, and reminding of sin. He (Yusuf) said that no one will ever blame you, nor scold you, nor will anyone remind you of this wrongdoing. The meaning of {’’ الْيَوْمَ ‘‘} is not just for today, but for all time, meaning that from now on, no one will ever blame you. ➋ This is the status of prophethood; if it had been any other person, after gaining control over such offenders, he would never have forgiven them. This is exactly how the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) treated the people of Makkah after its conquest. Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that (on the day of the conquest of Makkah) the chiefs and prominent people of Quraysh took refuge in the Ka'bah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived, performed Tawaf of the House of Allah, and as he passed by the (360) idols, he struck them with the tip of his bow and kept saying: «{ جَآءَالْحَقُّوَزَهَقَالْبَاطِلُاِنَّالْبَاطِلَكَانَزَهُوْقًا }»[ بنی إسرائیل : ۸۱ ] When he finished and had prayed, he came and held both sides of the doorframe, then said: "O assembly of Quraysh! (Speak) what do you say?" They said: "We say (you are) a merciful and noble nephew and cousin." He repeated his question to them, and they gave the same answer, so he said: "Then I say to you what my brother Yusuf said: «{ لَاتَثْرِيْبَعَلَيْكُمُالْيَوْمَيَغْفِرُاللّٰهُلَكُمْوَهُوَاَرْحَمُالرّٰحِمِيْنَ }» So they all came out and pledged allegiance to Islam at his hand. [ السنن الکبریٰ للنسائي : 382/6، ۳۸۳ح : ۱۱۲۹۸ ] This is true maintaining of family ties. Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [ لَيْسَالْوَاصِلُبِالْمُكَافِئِوَلَكِنَّالْوَاصِلُالَّذِيْإِذَاقُطِعَتْرَحِمُهٗوَصَلَهَا ][ بخاري، الأدب، باب لیس الواصل بالمکافئ : ۵۹۹۱ ] "The one who maintains family ties is not the one who does so in return for kindness, but the one who maintains ties is he who, when his ties are severed, he joins them." ➌ { يَغْفِرُاللّٰهُلَكُمْ … :} Yusuf (peace be upon him) not only forgave them, but without their request, he also prayed to Allah Almighty for their forgiveness and mercy.
