They said: "Are you indeed Yûsuf (Joseph)?" He said: "I am Yûsuf (Joseph), and this is my brother (Benjamin). Allâh has indeed been gracious to us. Verily, he who fears Allâh with obedience to Him (by abstaining from sins and evil deeds, and by performing righteous good deeds), and is patient, then surely, Allâh makes not the reward of the Muhsinûn (good-doers - see V.2:112) to be lost."

(Ayah90) ➊ { قَالُوْۤاءَاِنَّكَلَاَنْتَيُوْسُفُ :} The brothers were shocked to hear that an incident from years ago, which no one but themselves knew, was known by someone in this foreign land. Then, reflecting on his features, they immediately concluded that this was indeed their wronged brother Yusuf. With a mixture of astonishment, wonder, and fear, they asked the question, which was made certain by three forms of emphasis: “Are you really, truly Yusuf?” {’’ اِنَّ ‘‘}, the lam of emphasis, and after {’’ اِنَّكَ ‘‘} then again with { ’’ أَنْتَ ‘‘} for emphasis. Despite so much certainty, the question still contains some doubt.
➋ { قَالَاَنَايُوْسُفُوَهٰذَاۤاَخِيْ:} He said, “Yes, I am Yusuf, and this is my brother.” In this short statement, Yusuf (peace be upon him) recounted the entire story of what he had suffered at the hands of his brothers, which could not be fully expressed in words, and according to his forgiveness and forbearance, it was not the occasion for it.
➌ { قَدْمَنَّاللّٰهُعَلَيْنَا:} That He saved both from hardship and united them, and raised them to this high rank which you are witnessing with your own eyes.
➍ { اِنَّهٗمَنْيَّتَّقِوَيَصْبِرْ :} That is, whoever avoids unlawful acts and disobedience, adheres to Allah’s commands, and is patient over the trials and Allah’s decree that befall him.
➎ {فَاِنَّاللّٰهَلَايُضِيْعُاَجْرَالْمُحْسِنِيْنَ :} Shah Abdul Qadir (may Allah have mercy on him) writes: “Whoever is afflicted with hardship, does not go beyond the Shariah, and does not panic, then in the end, the reward is greater than the affliction (i.e., hardship).” (Mawdhih)
