Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah89) ➊ { قَالَهَلْعَلِمْتُمْمَّافَعَلْتُمْبِيُوْسُفَوَاَخِيْهِ :} Seeing the helplessness and distress of his brothers and their plea for charity, Yusuf (peace be upon him) was overcome with emotion and could not prolong the matter any further. The time had come regarding which, in the well, Allah had revealed to him that these people who are acting as they are now, a time will surely come when you will inform them of this, and they will not even realize it. Thus, expressing some displeasure and mostly excusing their mistake himself, he said, "Do you know what you did with Yusuf and his brother, when you were ignorant?" ➋ { اِذْاَنْتُمْجٰهِلُوْنَ:} That is, what you did was due to your ignorance and foolishness. While reminding his brothers of their deed, Yusuf (peace be upon him) could have said: {’’وَاَنْتُمْظَالِمُوْنَ‘‘} "when you were being unjust," but out of consideration that they should not feel ashamed, he himself found an excuse for them. This is an extremely gracious stance, which can only be expected from a prophet.
