سُوْرَةُ يُوسُفَ
Surah Yusuf (12) — Ayah 85
قَالُوا۟ تَٱللَّهِ تَفْتَؤُا۟ تَذْكُرُ يُوسُفَ حَتَّىٰ تَكُونَ حَرَضًا أَوْ تَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْهَـٰلِكِينَ ﴿85﴾
Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
They said: "By Allâh! You will never cease remembering Yûsuf (Joseph) until you become weak with old age, or until you be of the dead."

(Ayah85){قَالُوْا تَاللّٰهِ تَفْتَؤُا …:} The letter "Taa" is used for oath, it comes with the word "Allah" and is generally used for oath in situations where there is some astonishment. {’’فَتِئَ يَفْتَؤُ‘‘} means to turn away, to forget. Before this, generally {’’مَا‘‘} comes and the meaning is always to remain, not to forget; here too, originally it was {’’ مَا تَفْتَؤُ‘‘}, but due to being known from {’’ مَا ‘‘}, it has been omitted, meaning you will always remember Yusuf, you will not forget him, you will not refrain from remembering him. The sons and grandsons, seeing the miserable state of their father, felt pity; when his grief reached this extent, they said to their father that by Allah! You will continue to remember Yusuf in this way until you waste away and approach death, or become among those who perish. As if they were advising him to be patient and reproaching him for such excessive grief.
