سُوْرَةُ يُوسُفَ
Surah Yusuf (12) — Ayah 82
وَسْـَٔلِ ٱلْقَرْيَةَ ٱلَّتِى كُنَّا فِيهَا وَٱلْعِيرَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَقْبَلْنَا فِيهَا ۖ وَإِنَّا لَصَـٰدِقُونَ ﴿82﴾
Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
"And ask (the people of) the town where we have been, and the caravan in which we returned; and indeed we are telling the truth."

(Ayah82){وَ سْـَٔلِ الْقَرْيَةَ الَّتِيْ كُنَّا فِيْهَا … :} In this, they mentioned three things in their defense: (1) Ask the people of the town where we were. (2) Also, ask the caravan with which we came. (3) And (we swear that) indeed, we are surely telling the truth. The reason for presenting so many testimonies in their defense was that they knew their father would not believe their words.
