Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah69) ➊ {وَلَمَّادَخَلُوْاعَلٰىيُوْسُفَ … :} From this it is understood that Yusuf (peace be upon him), with his wise planning, arranged the other brothers in such a way that the younger brother was left alone, so he kept him with himself. Most commentators have generally written that the brothers were accommodated two by two in separate places, but it is also possible that they were accommodated five by five in separate places, or some other arrangement was made (and Allah knows best), because the two-by-two arrangement is not mentioned in the Qur'an or Hadith. ➋ {قَالَاِنِّيْۤاَنَااَخُوْكَ …:} It is obvious that when Yusuf (peace be upon him) was alone with his brother and told him that he was his real brother, he must have recounted the stories of the mistreatment by his stepbrothers, and surely he would have also described his own and his father's condition in the separation from Yusuf (peace be upon him). Upon this, Yusuf (peace be upon him) comforted him, saying that now you have reached your brother, so do not grieve over the mistreatment of these brothers; now the time has come for all our sorrows to be removed and for Allah Almighty to grant us relief and honor.
