وَكَأَيِّن مِّنْ ءَايَةٍ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ يَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهَا وَهُمْ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضُونَ ﴿105﴾
And how many a sign in the heavens and the earth they pass by, while they are averse therefrom.
وَكَأَيِّن waka-ayyin And how many
مِّنْ min of
ءَايَةٍۢ āyatin a Sign
فِى in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ l-samāwāti the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ wal-arḍi and the earth
يَمُرُّونَ yamurrūna they pass
عَلَيْهَا ʿalayhā over it
وَهُمْ wahum while they
عَنْهَا ʿanhā (are) from them
مُعْرِضُونَ muʿ'riḍūna the ones who turn away

(Ayah105){وَ كَاَيِّنْ مِّنْ اٰيَةٍ …: ’’ كَاَيِّنْ ‘‘} is a combination of kaf tashbih and {’’ اَيٌّ ‘‘}, meaning "how many," implying that the thing mentioned after it is so numerous that it cannot be counted. { ’’ اٰيَةٍ ‘‘} "sign" refers to such a strange thing that draws attention to itself in such a way that it cannot be forgotten, as it is said: {’’ فَلَانٌ آيَةٌ فِي الذَّكَاءِ‘‘ } meaning "so-and-so is an ayah in intelligence," that is, he is so intelligent that one is left astonished. Some of the signs of Tawheed are tanziliyyah, which were revealed to the Prophet (peace be upon him), and countless are kawniyyah, which are scattered throughout every particle of the universe. {’’ يَمُرُّوْنَ ‘‘} "passing by" does not only mean passing by while walking, because how can one pass by the signs of the sky, but it means that there are countless strange and wonderful things that come before their eyes every day, yet they do not pay any attention to them. The main point is that in response to Allah's claim that "I have created everything; if there is anyone else who has created even a fly or its wing, then bring it forth," when no one can raise their head and you too have no choice but to accept this, then why do you make anyone else in this universe the owner of powers or someone who can force Allah to accept? And leaving the Creator and Owner of everything, by what argument do you consider His creation as the remover of difficulties and call upon them? Allah has mentioned these signs in many places in the Qur'an. For example, two or three places are mentioned: «{ وَ فِي الْاَرْضِ اٰيٰتٌ لِّلْمُوْقِنِيْنَ (21) وَ فِيْۤ اَنْفُسِكُمْ اَفَلَا تُبْصِرُوْنَ [ الذاریات : ۲۰، ۲۱ ] "And in the earth are many signs for those who have certainty, and in your own selves as well, so do you not see?" And see Surah Al-Baqarah (164 to 167); among the countless signs spread throughout the universe, many signs are also mentioned in these verses, and in fact, in these verses, Allah's complete control over every power is described in a perfect manner. Further, see Surah Ar-Rum (17 to 28); kindly take a little trouble to study these places. A person who fully reflects on the signs of Allah will certainly reach Tawheed, the Hereafter, and the Prophethood of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), otherwise, at the very least, by reflecting on the things of the universe, he will surely reach some beneficial result or invention that will at least benefit himself and other people in this world. Just as reflecting on the lifting of the lid by the steam of a pot led to the discovery of the power of steam, resulting in the train and many inventions. Electricity, gas, laser, atom—all these are the result of reflecting on Allah's kawniyyah signs. So Allah invites us to reflect on His signs; if someone cannot reach Tawheed, even then his effort is not wasted—He gives even the disbeliever some worldly reward as a result of his thought and reflection, but the truly successful one is he whose reflection leads him to recognize his Creator and Owner, to worship Him alone, and to believe in His Messenger.
