Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 89) ➊ {وَ يٰقَوْمِ لَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شِقَاقِيْۤ …:’’شِقَاقٌ شِقٌّ‘‘} is a verbal noun from the form "Mufa'alah," meaning "side," that is, both parties stand face to face in opposition to each other, i.e., to come down to clear opposition and confrontation. {’’ لَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ ‘‘ } means "do not let it incite you," "do not let it provoke you," "do not let it make you guilty of this," "do not let it become a cause for you"—all these meanings are possible.

{ وَ مَا قَوْمُ لُوْطٍ مِّنْكُمْ بِبَعِيْدٍ :} means that if you did not take heed from the drowning of the people of Noah, the destruction of the people of Hud by the windstorm, and the annihilation of the people of Salih by the shriek and earthquake—because their region or era was distant from you—then the people of Lot are not far from you, neither much time has passed since them, nor is their region far from yours. It should be noted that geographically, the region of Madyan was adjacent to the land where the people of Lot lived.
