Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 45){وَ نَادٰى نُوْحٌ رَّبَّهٗ … : } After all the disbelievers were drowned, the compassion of a father surged, so Nuh (peace be upon him) prayed regarding his son. Allah Almighty had promised to save the family of Nuh (peace be upon him), and with reference to that promise, he made his request. He had understood "family" to mean those related by blood and kinship, whereas the bond of friendship does not remain between a disbeliever and a believer. After embracing faith, all believers become friends and all disbelievers become enemies. See Surah Al-Mumtahanah (4). In any case, Nuh (peace be upon him) maintained respect and did not explicitly ask for his son to be saved.
