سُوْرَةُ هُوْدٍ
Surah Hud (11) — Ayah 19
ٱلَّذِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًا وَهُم بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ هُمْ كَـٰفِرُونَ ﴿19﴾

Those who hinder (others) from the Path of Allâh (Islâmic Monotheism), and seek a crookedness therein, while they are disbelievers in the Hereafter.

(Ayah 19){الَّذِيْنَ يَصُدُّوْنَ عَنْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ …:} means that by finding faults and defects in Allah’s straight path (Islam), they prevent people from entering it. The repetition of the pronoun in {’’ هُمْ ‘‘} means that these people have reached such an extent in denying the Hereafter that it is as if they are the real deniers of the Hereafter. In {’’ يَبْغُوْنَهَا عِوَجًا ‘‘}, the letter “lam” is omitted, i.e., {’’يَبْغُوْنَ لَهَا عِوَجًا‘‘} as Allah Almighty has said: «{ اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِيْۤ اَنْزَلَ عَلٰى عَبْدِهِ الْكِتٰبَ وَ لَمْ يَجْعَلْ لَّهٗ عِوَجًا }» [ الکہف:۱ ] or in {’’ يَبْغُوْنَهَا عِوَجًا ‘‘}, the word {’’ فِيْ‘‘} is omitted, i.e., {’’ يَبْغُوْنَ فِيْهَا عِوَجًا ‘‘} as Allah Almighty has said regarding the earth on the Day of Resurrection: «{ لَا تَرٰى فِيْهَا عِوَجًا }» [طٰہٰ : ۱۰۷ ]
