Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 115) {وَاصْبِرْفَاِنَّاللّٰهَلَايُضِيْعُ …:} Along with prayer, the other thing that greatly helps in steadfastness upon the truth and in preventing inclination towards oppression is patience. He (Allah) said: «{ وَاسْتَعِيْنُوْابِالصَّبْرِوَالصَّلٰوةِ }»[ البقرۃ : ۴۵ ] "And seek help through patience and prayer." In Mufradat Raghib it is stated: "The meaning of patience is to restrain someone in difficulty. He (Allah) said: {’’صَبَرْتُالدَّابَّةَ‘‘} 'I kept the animal tied without fodder,' and { ’’صَبَرْتُفُلاَنًا‘‘ } 'I pursued him in such a way that he could not escape in any way.'" Patience restrains and binds the self to that which reason and Shariah demand, or restrains and binds it from that which reason and Shariah prohibit." The scholars generally mention three types of patience: (1) To bind oneself to righteousness and always remain committed to it. (2) To always restrain oneself from disobedience to Allah. (3) To make oneself content with Allah's decree instead of panicking in the face of calamity. The need for patience for steadfastness is clear. Allah Almighty has mentioned patience in many places in the Quran, just like in the verse under commentary, even stating: «{ اِنَّمَايُوَفَّىالصّٰبِرُوْنَاَجْرَهُمْبِغَيْرِحِسَابٍ }»[ الزمر : ۱۰ ] "Only those who are patient will be given their reward without measure."
