وَإِنَّ كُلًّا لَّمَّا لَيُوَفِّيَنَّهُمْ رَبُّكَ أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ ﴿111﴾
And verily, to each of them your Lord will repay their works in full. Surely, He is All-Aware of what they do.
وَإِنَّ wa-inna And indeed

رَبُّكَ rabbuka your Lord

(Ayah 111) ➊ In {وَ اِنَّ كُلًّا لَّمَّا لَيُوَفِّيَنَّهُمْ …:’’ كُلًّا ‘‘}, the tanween is for compensation, meaning its genitive is omitted. Originally it was {’’ كُلُّهُمْ‘‘ } or {’’ كُلُّ هٰؤُلَاءِ‘‘} (all these people). {’’ لَمَّا ‘‘} means "when"; it is a conditional particle whose condition is omitted. {’’لَيُوَفِّيَنَّهُمْ ‘‘} is its consequence. That omitted condition will be derived according to the meaning of {’’ لَمَّا ‘‘}, that is, {’’ لَمَّا جَاءَ أَجَلُهُمْ‘‘}, meaning indeed all these people (when their time comes), then surely their Lord will fully recompense them for their deeds. Since those people denied the Resurrection, therefore, in this sentence, emphasis has been brought in several ways: {’’ اِنَّ ‘‘}, the lām of emphasis, and the nūn of heaviness. By omitting what comes after {’’ لَمَّا ‘‘}, an awe is also created, because the word {’’ لَمَّا ‘‘} itself includes the meaning of time, that is, when that time comes. ({’’ اِنَّ كُلًّا لَّمَّا ‘‘} is the clearest and easiest explanation of this; see Tafsir al-Sharawi.) In Tafsir Nasafi it is stated: {’’ قَالَ صَاحِبُ الْإِيْجَازِ ’’لَمَّا‘‘ فِيْهِ مَعْنَي الظَّرْفِ وَقَدْ دَخَلَ فِي الْكَلاَمِ اخْتِصَارٌ كَأَنَّهُ قِيْلَ ’’وَإِنَّ كُلاًّ لَّمَّا بُعِثُوْا لَيُوَفِّيَنَّهُمْ رَبُّكَ‘‘} The meaning is the same as mentioned above, except that they have derived {’’ لَمَّا بُعِثُوْا ‘‘} as omitted instead of {’’ لَمَّا جَاءَ أَجَلُهُمْ ‘‘ }.
{اِنَّهٗ بِمَا يَعْمَلُوْنَ خَبِيْرٌ: } In this, the reason for fully recompensing the deeds is stated: that He is fully aware of their deeds, therefore whether the deed is good or bad, its full recompense will be given.
