Hud · Meccan · Juz 12 · Page 222

But if We let him taste good (favour) after evil (poverty and harm) has touched him, he is sure to say: "Ills have departed from me." Surely, he is exultant, and boastful (ungrateful to Allâh).

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 10) {وَ لَىِٕنْ اَذَقْنٰهُ نَعْمَآءَ بَعْدَ ضَرَّآءَ …: ’’ نَعْمَآءَ ‘‘} A blessing whose effect is apparent on the one who receives it. Similarly, {’’ ضَرَّآءَ ‘‘} is a calamity whose adverse effect becomes apparent on a person. (Tantawi) {’’ اِنَّهٗ لَفَرِحٌ فَخُوْرٌ ‘‘} That is, he becomes very exultant and boastful and thinks that now all hardships and difficulties have been removed.
